NZ electronic music veterans Pitch Black are back with their much-anticipated follow up to 2004\'s \'From Ape To Angel\'.
Since forming in \'96 Paddy Free and Mike Hodgson remain one of this countries most outstanding and relevant electronic acts, cementing themselves at the top of the scene by constantly evolving and innovating. Their albums \'Futureproof\' (1999), \'Electronomicon\' (2000) and \'Ape To Angel\' are all bonafide electronic classics with praise coming from all over the world.
For \'Rude Mechanics\', the modus operandi is pretty much the same as on their previous efforts. Each song is a soundscape, built on big bass and spacious atmospherics but with beats and melodies building up, bringing it all together and making it as catchy as hell! The formula maybe the same, but Pitch Black are always evolving and innovating within that and \'Rude Mechanics\' shows the duo at the peak of their powers.
An early review has described \'Rude Mechanicals\' as \"Ritchie Hawtin meets King Tubby or Rhythm & Sound in Technicolour\" – not a bad analysis at all! You know with these guys you\'re going to get the full spectrum of dance music from high bpm stompers to near-ambience (sometimes in the same song) and of course, enough bottom-end to put the most robust speakers to the test.
