Review Notes

Third studio album from NZ's leading songstress. "Birds" is Bic Runga's definitive artistic statement and one in which she has truly found her voice and matured as a songwriter since 2002's Beautiful Collision. There is a sense of melancholy in songs like "It's Over" and "No Crying No More" (no doubt inspired by the loss of her mother) which has been previously absent from her work.
With possibly the most impressive list of NZ guest musicians ever (check out the video for first single "Winning Arrow" if you need convincing): - Neil Finn, Anika Moa, Shayne Carter, Anna Coddington (Duchess), Riki Gooch (TrinityRoots), Tim Arnold (Pluto), "Boxcar" Benny Maitland (Boxcar Guitars) and more all appear on "Birds" making it one of the years essential NZ releases.
